HELPWatermarkly — support

Help & troubleshooting.

Updated 23 September 2026 · support@appnest.studio · AppNest Studio

Everything here describes what the app actually does. If Watermarkly behaves differently from this page, the page is wrong — tell us and we'll fix it.

Getting started

  1. Install from the Shopify App Store. No account to create: you sign in with Shopify.
  2. Watermark Settings — choose text or a logo, set the font, size, weight, colour, opacity, placement and margins. The live preview on the right shows the result using the same font stack the server uses, so what you see is what gets composited in.
  3. Apply Watermarks — pick a single product first. Look at the result on your live storefront, on a phone, and at thumbnail size in a collection grid.
  4. Adjust and re-apply until it's right, then run the rest of the catalogue.

Steps 3 and 4 cost a handful of images from your monthly allowance. Skipping them costs a full re-run.

Troubleshooting

Nothing was watermarked#

Check these in order — the app shows a warning for each:

  • "Watermarking is turned off" — switch on Enable watermarking in Settings.
  • "Watermark text is empty" — with no text the watermark is invisible. Enter text, or switch to a logo.
  • "Upload a logo to activate the logo watermark" — you selected the logo watermark but haven't uploaded one. Add a logo, or switch back to text.
  • "Stickers are on, but no sticker types are selected" — turn on at least one of Sale, New or Out of stock.
"Monthly limit reached"#

You've used your plan's image allowance for the billing month. It resets at the start of the next month, or you can upgrade. Note that a re-apply costs the same as a first apply — it processes the images again.

"Your plan allows up to N products"#

Each plan caps how many products one job may cover: 20 on Free, 250 on Starter, 5,000 on Growth, 30,000 on Enterprise. The run is refused rather than silently truncated. Select fewer products, or upgrade.

"Your catalogue is too large for a single run"#

Even at your tier the catalogue exceeds one job. Apply by collection (Growth and above), or select products in smaller batches.

"Applying by collection is available on the Growth plan and above"#

Collection-based apply is a Growth feature. On Free and Starter, select products directly or apply to all products.

Some images failed#

A failed image doesn't stop the run. Open Undo / Restore — failures are collected there with two options:

  • Retry all re-queues just those images with your current settings. Their backups are kept either way, so retrying is safe.
  • Dismiss all clears the failed records from the list.

Dismiss all cannot be undone. It permanently deletes the failed records and the stored original backups they point to. If there is any chance you want those originals back, retry first, or leave them alone.

The preview looked different from the finished image#

It shouldn't. The font list only offers faces the server can genuinely render, and the preview uses the same font stack. If you previously chose a family that is no longer in the list, it's mapped to the closest installed face and the app tells you which — Lato → Open Sans, Raleway → Montserrat, Oswald → Arial Narrow, and Playfair Display, Dancing Script and Georgia → Times New Roman.

Right-click protection isn't working on my storefront#

Three things must all be true:

  1. Your plan includes it (Starter and above).
  2. It's switched on in the app's Protection page.
  3. The Image protection app embed is enabled: Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds → switch on Image protection → Save.

It also needs the Online Store sales channel, because it runs on your storefront. Everything else in Watermarkly works without it.

Be aware of what it does and doesn't do: it blocks the context menu and drag-to-save on images only, leaving right-click working normally on links, search and forms. It does not stop screenshots, opening the image URL directly, reading the page source, or scraping your product feed. It's a deterrent on top of the watermark, not a replacement for it.

Undo and retention

Every image is copied to backup storage before anything is composited, so undo is a restore rather than an edit. You can restore one image, everything in a collection, or every watermarked image in the store.

Originals are kept for 7 days on Free, 30 on Starter, 60 on Growth and 90 on Enterprise. After that the backup is gone and the watermarked file is what you have — a watermark composited into a JPEG cannot be subtracted. If you think you might change your mark, decide inside that window.

Billing

Billing runs through Shopify, so charges appear on your existing Shopify invoice. Changing plans takes effect immediately; features above your tier are refused server-side, not just hidden.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling stops all processing. Your product images stay exactly as they are — watermarked images remain watermarked, so restore anything you want back before you uninstall. What we keep and for how long is set out in the Watermarkly privacy policy.

Still stuck?

Email us with your store URL and, if a job failed, roughly when it ran — that's usually enough to find it in the logs.
