BillNest: GST Invoice India ("we", "our", "us") by AppNest Studio is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Shopify application.
1. Information we collect
When you install and use BillNest, we collect only what is needed to generate India-GST-compliant documents:
- Shop information: your Shopify store domain, access tokens, business identity (legal name, GSTIN, address) required for the app to function and to print the seller details on invoices.
- Order data: line items, amounts, taxes, shipping, and order attributes, used to generate the tax invoice or credit note for each order.
- Product data: product titles, prices, and variants, used to resolve the HSN/SAC code and GST rate per line.
- Customer data: customer name, email, billing/shipping address, and any GSTIN, used to print the recipient details required on a GST invoice (Rule 46) and to determine the place of supply.
- Settings: your configured tax behaviour, numbering, branding, and HSN/SAC mappings.
2. How we use your information
We use the collected information solely to:
- Generate GST tax invoices, credit/debit notes, proforma invoices, delivery challans, and Bills of Supply.
- Compute the correct CGST/SGST vs IGST split, cess, and rounding.
- Produce GSTR-1 / GSTR-3B reports and a CSV invoice register.
- Process billing through Shopify's native subscription system.
3. Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard cloud infrastructure (managed PostgreSQL; optional S3 for PDFs/logos). Shopify access tokens are encrypted at rest and all data is encrypted in transit. We do not share, sell, or distribute your data to third parties.
4. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as the app is installed on your store, so that historical GST documents remain immutable and available. Upon uninstalling the app, all your shop data — including invoices, settings, and mappings — is permanently deleted (see GDPR compliance below).
5. Third-party services
We use the following third-party services strictly to operate the app:
- Shopify: for authentication, order/product/customer data, and billing.
- Railway: for application hosting and managed PostgreSQL/Redis storage.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS S3): optional — for secure storage of generated invoice PDFs and uploaded logos.
- Email provider (e.g. Resend / Amazon SES): only if invoice email is enabled — to deliver invoice PDFs to your customers.
- Sentry: if enabled — for error monitoring to improve app reliability (no personal data collected for this purpose).
6. Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the data we store about your shop by contacting us.
- Request correction or deletion of your data at any time.
- Export your invoice register and GST reports at any time from within the app.
7. GDPR compliance
We comply with Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks for customer data requests (customers/data_request), customer data erasure (customers/redact), and shop data erasure (shop/redact).
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
